Ground Truth

Ground Truth is a real-time strategy (RTS) game built in the USC Gamepipe Lab in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories. The game is an ongoing project that started in Spring 2007.
The project's aim was to train incident commanders in the event of a major chemical toxic spill. The player manages resources such as police, fire fighters, and hazmat control to locate the areas affected by the chemical spill and save as many lives as possible. The game uses a grid-based system to manage traffic, civilian distribution, and chemical fog diffusion.
I was brought on about 5 weeks into the semester to lead the project's engineering after the project failed to make significant progress in earlier weeks. I took on the role of program manager to determine the specs of the application, architect the game framework, accelerate development, and manage team members.
